2013 Mint 400 KMC Wheels Pit Crew Challenge
In off-road racing a tire change can decide the outcome of the race! The Mint 400 is proud to announce the return of the KMC Wheels Pit Crew Challenge. Come watch the top teams in off-road racing battle head to head to determine who has the fastest pit crew in off-road! Each three-man team will compete against the clock and each other, to see who can change two tires the fastest.
The KMC Wheels Pit Crew Challenge is a celebration of the dedicated pit crews that spend countless hours prepping, maintaining, and fixing off-road race vehicles. Eight Class 1500 teams and eight Trick Truck teams will battle in a single elimination format to win thousands of dollars in prizes and determine who has the fastest pit crew.
Come cheer on your favorite team! The fun kicks off at 4:30pm, with the Rugged Radios “Meet and Greet” driver autograph session, and continues with the KMC Wheels Pit Crew Challenge at 6:30pm. All events take place on Fremont and 6th Street and are completely free to the public!

Trick Truck Pit Crew Challenge Class 1500 Pit Crew Challenge
12 Teams 8 Teams
Round 1 – Head to head Head to head battle all rounds.
Round 2 – Head to head
Round 3 – 3 team battle, 2 to final
Final Round
16 pit crews from the top unlimited truck teams do head to battle to decide who is best in off-road!
One spare, One Jack, One Impact Gun, 3 man crew
Each team of 3 team members starts in staging box with impact gun, Jack, and one spare tire.
Team must start with hands in air. Equipment must be on ground within box. Must carry jack into carpeted area.
Teams must swap one front tire and one rear tire. Both teams will be timed individually in case of penalties.
First team back to staging box with impact gun, Jack, and one spare tire and all 3 members with hands in air wins. Equipment must be on ground within box.
Must carry jack from carpeted area around truck to staging box.
Penalties:
5 sec penalty per loose lug nut
15 second penalty for missing lug nuts
Rules:
37″ Tire Min. for TT
35″ Tire Min for 1500
5 Lug Nuts on all vehicles (even with 6 lug vehicles).
Impact gun will be set at 150 psi.
Lug torq 65lbs before and after
No lug spacers
No glued lug nuts on wheels
No extra lug nuts
No limit straps to limit travel all vehicles must be race ready
3 tires on the ground at all times (single point jacking only.)
