FOX Renews Partnership with The Mint 400 in 2021

  • FOX enters ninth consecutive year of support of The Great American Off-Road Race™
  • $10,000 contingency prize on the line for the overall winner on FOX Shocks
  • FOX racers seek the brand’s 9th consecutive Mint 400 overall in 2021

The Mint 400 announced today that FOX is returning as an official event sponsor of the 2021 BFGoodrich Tires Mint 400. The Car/Truck race course will once again pass through the FOX Proving Grounds, a notoriously brutal section of race course where properly tuned suspension is critical and separates the fastest from the rest of the field. FOX will also offer a $10,000 contingency check to the overall winner of this year’s race if on FOX, which has been claimed the past eight years by a FOX athlete.

“FOX is a brand that takes full advantage of the activation opportunities at The Mint, both on and off the race course,” commented Mint 400 CEO, Matt Martelli. “Their activation space on Fremont is always packed and the FOX Proving Grounds are one of the signature facets of The Mint 400 race course. With the return of FOX’s $10,000 contingency check for this year’s overall winner on FOX, there’s plenty of reason why the biggest names in off-road ride FOX.”

In an effort to continually develop highly advanced suspension products, FOX constantly tests prototype components in the field under the world’s best racers. In 2019, under the leadership of John Marking and Bobby Smith, the FOX Factory Motorsports Group was formed and the Racing Applications Development (RAD) program was reestablished. The first RAD product focus for the new group was determined – TT Live Valve.

TT Live Valve was designed and further developed within the Motorsports Group in collaboration with FOX racers Cameron Steele, 1x Mint 400 Overall Champion Rob MacCachren and 3x Mint 400 Overall Champion Justin Lofton. In October of 2020, in only its second race, TT Live Valve took its first win with Lofton in his #41 FOX Trick Truck nicknamed Fury, solidifying the technology with a premier class win in off-road racing. “We’re excited to continue our support of the legendary Mint 400. The unforgiving Nevada desert pushes suspension to its absolute limit, lap-after-lap. That abuse fuels our Racing Applications Development program to keep progressing our product to conquer the desert and the competition. We believe the infamous FOX Proving Grounds will showcase our products’ superiority as our racers look to claim the overall and a $10k check. FOX is ready for battle, with our sights on our 9th consecutive Mint 400 overall win,” commented Bobby Smith, Director of Motorsports.

2021 will be FOX’s ninth consecutive year as a sponsor of The Mint 400. An industry leader in design and development of high performance shock absorbers and off-road racing suspension products, FOX offers bolt on performance shocks for your daily driver and UTV, utilizing the same technology used in high performance world off-road racing. FOX products will once again be on display at this year’s Mint 400 Off-Road Festival on Fremont Street in downtown Las Vegas Thursday, December 2nd.

In 2020, FOX racers earned the top two overall spots in the premier Unlimited Truck class, a Class 10 podium sweep, the top four spots in UTV Pro Turbo, and top two in the Hooligan Open bike class. In total, FOX racers took 29 total class podium spots and 13 class wins.

Luke McMillin crossed the finish line in 6:49:32 to claim the overall win in the Unlimited Truck Class. His margin of victory over FOX teammate Bryce Menzies was 8 minutes, 16 seconds. In addition to McMillin and Menzies taking the Top 2 spots, FOX-equipped Alumi Craft buggies swept Class 10 with Preston Brigman, Brent Fox, and Conner McMullen.

In the elite UTV Pro Turbo Class, Branden Sims and Jake Carver took the top two spots in their FOX Live Valve-equipped Polaris RZRs, while Dustin Jones took 3rd place in his FOX-equipped Can-Am.

Jordan Graham, Ricky Diaz and Alexander Smith entered the Hooligan Open motorcycle class on their FOX-equipped Scrambler Ducati Desert Sleds. Graham took the checkered flag in 4:45:35, 45 minutes faster than Smith in 2nd place.
