Last years overall winner of the Mint 400 was Justin Lofton, and he wasted no time letting everyone know he plans on doing it again after qualifying first at the Method Race Wheels Time Trials today out in Primm, Nevada. Besting a time of 4 minutes and 50 seconds around the specially designed qualifying course just outside of Buffalo Bills Hotel & Casino, where on race day will be the hub for all that is Mint 400.
With the largest field of unlimited cars and trucks of the year, grabbing the pole for this race is very valuable. Andy McMillin who is returning to a full time season driving finished only 1 second behind Lofton, followed by Bryce Menzies, Jesse Jones and Jason Voss rounding out your top 5. Your first three qualifiers are all past Mint 400 winners so the rest of the field has a lot of work ahead of them.
Finishing first in the Class 1500 class, and 8th overall was Las Vegas native Pat Dean, with #1501 Cody Parkhouse right behind him only 6/10’s of second back.
A few fast qualifiers who normally finish in the top half but succumbed to rollovers in the short course track were Dale Dondel and Tracy Graf, which means come saturday they will be a threat maybe not on finishing first physically, but on corrected time may sneak up on the leaders.
