Terrible Herbst Are Your Method Race Wheels Pit Crew Champions

Thursday, March 2, 2017

After a great day of qualifying today the night was capped off with the Method Race Wheels Pit Crew Competition and the Rugged Radios Meet & Greet. Fans came down to Fremont Street to get autographs and memorabilia from some of their favorite drivers and interact with their fans.

In the pit crew competition 8 Trick Truck teams and 5 Class 6100 Trucks went head to head in their respective classes to see which crew was the fastest. The rules were simple. Each team had to change one rear tire and one front tire and the team with the quickest time moved on to the next round.

In addition to a brand new set of Method Race Wheels, crews competed for the coveted Method Race Wheels jack, awarded to the Champions of both the Trick Truck and Class 6100 teams. Additional sponsors stepped up and each champion received one set of FOX Performance Series Smooth Body IFP shocks, a full set of BFGoodrich street tires, an Impact Racing fueler helmet and apron, and a $250 gift certificate (champions and runners up) from Rigid Industries.

In the 6100 Class the team of Alex Gonzalez and GHA Racing set a pretty fast pace from the opening rounds and continued to keep it all the way until the final where they faced Banning Motorsports. It was a close race but in the end GHA Racing kept their pace and were crowned the winners.

In the Trick Truck class it was anyones game. Last years champs Olliges Racing were back to defend their crown, YouTheory recruited the crew from the Class 1500 winners last year, and Strobel Motorsports was back with their friends from Jimco who help pit them each year. This year however none of those teams would make it to the final rounds.

For 2017 it was two teams new to the Pit Crew Competition that would have to battle it out to see who had the best crew. Terrible Herbst advanced to the final round as did the #50 truck of Team Ready Gunner. After a heated battle between the two teams with lug nuts flying, impact guns screaming and tires lifted it was the home town boys the Terrible Herbst who were crowned the Method Race Wheels Pit Crew Champions.
