The BFGoodrich Tires Mint 400 doesn’t just have a race for every type of vehicle imaginable—it’s also got opportunities for racers of all ages to take part. Nowhere is UNLTD Off-Road Racing’s commitment to growing the sport more apparent than at the Mint 400 Youth Races, which saw dozens of future stars take part in four races across Friday and Saturday in Primm for the honors of being this year’s youngest Mint 400 winners.

The action kicked off Friday morning on the 5.8-mile course with Laethe Earp taking the checkered flag in the Youth 570 race, before nearly 20 racers took part in the Youth 1000 race. When all was said and done, UNLTD Youth class mainstay Wyatt Cotter was awarded the victory ahead of Cameron Leaming and Cash Martinez.

On Saturday, the shorter, 1.5-mile course opened for two races of its own. Youth 170 Production would kick things off with its own race, as Dylan Llamosas scored the win over Murphy McKay as the only two drivers in the 19-car field to make it to an 11th lap.

Ryland Gaughan would earn the overall and 250 class victory over Kyson Christensen, while Korbin Grinolds would take the final overall podium spot with a win in 170 Open and Mathew Pryor took the Youth 200 victory to complete the list of winners.

The Mint 400 has held the title of the toughest, most spectacular off-road race in North America since 1968 when it was first run. Initially, the race was a public relations event promoting the Mint Hotel’s annual deer hunt, but what started out as a hotel promotion soon grew into a legitimate desert race. Since its 2008 revival, “The Great American Off-Road Race” has only gotten bigger and more prestigious, and deeper fields every year only make it tougher to win.

This year’s BFGoodrich Tires Mint 400 will take place from March 5-9 in Las Vegas. More information on the event for racers and spectators is available at TheMint400.com, or follow the event on Facebook and Instagram.
