All pits are considered “hot pits”. The Mint 400 hot pits are designated for race teams who are actively racing, and should be used for pitting operations only. Campfires (or any kind of fire) spectating, dogs, bicycles, minors unaccompanied by an adult, firearms, alcohol, or any illegal substances are banned from the hot pit area. You MUST have a waiver wristband to be in any of the hot pits. No exceptions.

No Mint 400 participant (Driver or crew member) may use or be under the influence of alcohol, drugs or any other controlled substance while competing. Failure to obey these restrictions will result in ejection from the pit area and may prevent you or your team from participating in The Mint 400.

Each team will receive four (4) vehicle pit passes for their main pit, four (4) vehicle pit passes for Pit A and two (2) vehicle pit passes for Pit B. These will be issued at on-site Driver Registration to the Driver of Record.

All Service dogs are to remain leashed and by their handler’s side at all times, and are required to use the designated service animal relief area.

If you are pitting multiple vehicles for multiple races you may choose the largest pit for which you are pitting.
Example: If you are pitting for the UTV Rally Class on Friday and Unlimited Truck Class on Saturday afternoon, you may pit in the Unlimited Pit for BOTH races. You do not need to move. However please remember there is no overnight camping. Absolutely no open flames, cooking of food, or other camp activities will be allowed in any pit at any time. This is for the safety and security of all racers and crews.

PIT ACCESS REQUIREMENTS

  • Waiver Wristbands: Anyone entering a Mint 400 pit must have a waiver wristband and be part of a race team. You can pick up your Mint 400 waiver wristband at the following Mint 400 Events: Desert Clean-Up, Qualifying Registration, Driver Registration, Off-Road Festival staging at the Cashman lot, Gate 1 & Gate2 (Unlimited Teams only). Teams needing pit access on race day must ensure all pit crew members have waiver wristbands prior to arriving at the pit entrance.
    • Remote Pit Race Day Pick-Up: If you are unable to pick up your waiver wristbands ahead of time at one of the above locations, you may pick up waiver wristbands at Terrible’s Hotel & Casino on Friday and Saturday from 5am-9pm. This is the only location you can pick them up in Jean. You can not get these wristbands at the entrance of the pits. Period.
  • Vehicle Pit Passes: Any vehicle entering a pit must have a pit pass for the correct day and race (morning/afternoon). Pit passes must be displayed in the upper right hand corner of the front exterior of the vehicle window. Each team will be provided with vehicle pit passes at onsite registration for the correct day and race (morning/afternoon) that you need pit access for.
    • As in 2019, each team will receive four (4) vehicle pit passes for their main pit, four (4) vehicle pit passes for Pit A and two (2) vehicle pit passes for Pit B. These will be issued at on-site Driver Registration to the Driver of Record.

  • Pitting vs. Camping: Pitting and camping will be separate in 2020. All pits are considered “hot pits”. With the exception of the motorcycle main pit, there is no any overnight camping in any of the pits, including Remote Pit A and Remote Pit B. Please reference the map for Car/Truck camping in Primm. ALL PITS WILL BE SWEPT THURSDAY EVENING. DO NOT SET UP PITS EARLY.
    • Car/Trucks – The ‘old’ main pit will be entirely reserved for car/truck camping as part of your entry. These sites will be first come, first served while space permits.
      • Car/Truck Camping Opens: Wednesday, March 4th @ 9:00am
      • Car/Truck Camping Closes: Sunday, March 8th @ 6:00pm
      • Please do not arrive prior to the move in time. You will not be allowed in the campground.
      • More information on reserving your campsite will be made available soon.
    • Motorcycles – You are allowed to camp inside your pit. Please see the map for reference and below times for move in/out.
    • Youth Racers – You have a dedicated camping area near the Start/Finish Line. Please see the map for reference and below times for move in/out.
  • Spectator Areas and Start/Finish Line: Each team will receive (8) tickets to The Mint 400 Start/Finish Line Midway at onsite registration. Pit passes and waiver wristbands do NOT grant you access to the Jean Spectator Areas or the Mint 400 Start/Finish Line Midway. Support crews are not allowed in spectating areas.* Additional Start/Finish Line Midway tickets can be purchased here.
